Web 3.0 is an online tsunami currently building its destructive power. It promotes virtual relationships beyond the five simple senses. It threatens to alter perceived reality from actual to invented, and to further diminish ALMIGHTY God into either a weak promoter of niceness or a personal enemy.

Web 3.0 promotes individual autonomy and power, the same temptation Adam and Eve fell for in Genesis 3. And like the serpent’s lie, cunning technology weaves little benefits into deadly poison.

The Christian experience stands upon the concept of sharing life with brothers and sisters in the faith. Feeding one another, helping one another in times of need, discipling, and studying the word of God as we practice applying its wisdom and guidance. Fellowships is hands on, in the trenches, and joyous in shared experience.

Web 3.0 and Transhumanism

The Web 3.0 experience stands on Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), blockchains, cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and a complete lack of oversight of anything, whether good or evil. Worse still is how it opens the door to transhumanism.

A simple form of transhumanism is implantable devices making a person able to access the web (or metaverse) without external equipment.

Strong transhumanism advocates see themselves engaged in a project, the purpose of which is to overcome the limits of human nature. [Some fear] that transhumanism will lead to the existence of two distinct types of being, the human and the posthuman. The human may be incapable of breeding with the posthuman and will be seen as having a much lower moral standing.”

Nothing About Christ Is Artificial

Christianity is about New Creations in Christ, flesh and blood people, not animated bits and bytes of electrical impulse. Christ ministered to real people, healed real bodies, and fed multitudes with real food.

The impact of isolation on children and adults during COVID lockdowns is nothing compared to what Web 3.0 promises. Isolation creates vulnerability. Christianity is about community with our neighbors, not “fellowship” between avatars, aka fake people.

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:24-25

Technology and Idolatry

Believing what isn’t true is another form of artificial intelligence. Wisdom is knowing what is from what is not. No one sees themselves 100% objectively. We need one another to walk with, observe, and share truth when beneficial (and spoken in love.)

“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.”
Colossians 2:8

Technology is man-made. Never worship or yield to its temptations in a way you can’t explain to Jesus. How would you rationalize praise and worship looking like this?

Two Possible Eternal Outcomes

Truth exists. There is a stark division between light and dark. There are only two potential eternal outcomes, eternity with God or not. Sadly, too many people believe that human wisdom or rationalization of God’s word is good enough. It is not.

“If all doctrines flow from subjective personal experience, then can there be any objective truth in Christianity? If individuals experience God in different ways, then doesn’t he basically amount to a different God for each individual? “This novel approach changes our view of God into a bigger view of ourselves.”
Daryl Aaron, “The 40 Most influential Christians””

Man Eclipsed God in 1859

MAN replaced God as the head of the universe in 1859. While that betrayal has no power over the truth, perception is said to be reality. Watch today for evidence of this sinful transposition in social media, news, Christian literature, Bible studies, politics, and conversation with friends and family.

The greatest human action cannot change the least of God’s plans, but moving into virtual reality (that which doesn’t really exist) is moving away from God’s creation into one populated by fake humans and machines with artificial intelligence.

Belief Is Powerless Without Truth

It doesn’t matter what you believe at your last breath unless what you believe is true. The lies of the world have no power in eternity. There is only one source of Truth. It not only matters why you believe what you believe, it matters if what you believe is real.

The world shifted from God over man to Man over god in 1859 when much of the world left the past behind in favor of progressive doctrines intended to deny God. While researching Fifteen Minutes Into Eternity—The War Between The Human Spirit And The Holy Spirit, I learned that almost everything wrong in western cultures today was either introduced or altered course in 1859. It was the beginning of humanism, “settled science”, modern medicine, progressive sociology, and a theology based on human nature rather than God’s Holy Spirit.

What You Believe Determines Your Eternal Address

The fuse that detonated the 1859 explosion was lit in the Garden of Eden and we are in free-fall. Little that is recognizable will remain when the dust settles. Where you find yourself in eternity depends on what you believe and what you do about it. You must declare your choice because there is no more time on the clock.

Choose Today Whom You Will Serve

The choice is between God and Not God. Too many people sit unaware in the Not God camp because what they believe is at odds with what is real.

Choose today whom you will serve. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Everything created by God remains or is transformed. No matter how powerful Web 3.0 becomes, it will disappear, and all the “wealth” of the world with it, when someone pulls the plug.

    1. Too much time on our hands may indeed have something to do with the coming technological darkness. It has a long head start and many were already suckered in. Being a watchman includes warning folks of approaching enemies. (Isaiah 21:6) Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Lynn
