Andie Andrews

Did you love I Know Why the Old Horsewoman Sings or the chapter, Unbreakable in The Breath of Horse Crazy? Andie Andrews has the rare ability to illustrate emotions with words, even those I couldn’t explain to myself without her help.

So often, when reading Andie’s fiction or poetry, my spirit shouts, “Yes! That’s precisely it.”

Meet Andie Andrews

Andie and Hook

Andie Andrews is a recreational rider, certified equine massage therapist, novelist, screenwriter, blogger, and cowgirl poet specializing in romance, horse tales, and Christian fiction. Her historical romance, The Legacy of Ruby Sanchez, was recognized as a FaithWords top-finalist by the American Christian Fiction Writers (Genesis contest).

Other writing projects include the published novel, Saints in the City, a triple finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards® competition (Romance, Religious Fiction, and Social Change), and a screenplay by the same name which quarter-finaled in the prestigious International Page Screenwriting Awards.

Her most recently published novel, Ephemeral, (Women’s Fiction) was inspired by her own sideways journey with horses and is told from the point of view of a quirky, old cow horse.

EPHEMERAL

Years ago I shared Andie’s poetry on Facebook and my website. The Breath of Horse Crazy wouldn’t have the depth of soul it does without her contribution. I don’t read much fiction, but consider Andie’s latest novel a masterpiece for women who love horses and for the horses who love them in return. In Ephemeral, Andie shares what some of you are blessed to experience yourselves and what other women still dream of; oneness with a half-ton equine soul mate.

The story offers amazing characters and real barn experiences. Ephemeral is entertaining, challenging, devastating, and victorious. Can you tell I loved it?

Andie And Her Critters

Like most horse-lovers, Andie’s heart is big enough for other critters. She has also had her work published in the American Kennel Club’s AKC Gazette, blogs about her life with horses (as well as chickens and the occasional goat and dog) at andieandrewsauthor.com and was a semi-finalist in the 2018 Nashville Screenwriting Competition/Nashville Film Festival with her most recent screenplay, a romantic comedy called Spring Fling.

Andie’s Works In Progress

Andie’s current works in progress include a sequel to Ephemeral (Eternal, slated for release in early 2020) and a non-fiction book of stories featuring Catholic saints and the animals they loved. She was an English major with a focus in screenwriting at the University of Miami, Florida, and homesteads in Tewksbury, NJ with her tractor-happy husband, Ed, one silly goat, nine quirky hens, a 24-year-old Appendix Quarter Horse named Hook, a 23-year-old Rocky Mountain mare/diva named Diamond Girl, and a gregarious Golden Retriever puppy/farm-dog-in-training appropriately named Sunny.

Christian Cowgirl Poetry

Andie explains her poetry website this way:

” I started horseback riding late in life — half whim, half wish to outrun the stuff that catches up to you when you reach “a certain age.” I’m a raging Commitment Phobic but somehow I’ve found myself captivated by the essence of all things equine. Hence, this blog on what I’m learning about my truest self — and God — in the company of horses.

In 2013, I became the guardian and traveling companion of a 19- year-old Appendix Quarter Horse whose registered name is Hot Sunny Dee, but whose barn name, Hook, reflects my inmost passion. Truly, I am “hooked” on his wild heart, his innate gifts and power, and his heritage of freedom, which has set me on a quest to discover and claim these same things for myself, through the Spirit of Christ, my Savior, who from the beginning created all for His glory.”

Liberty Training And A Fiddle

Andie’s current passion is Liberty training and learning to dance with her horses, as well as teaching herself to play the fiddle in anticipation of performing with her daughter in Nashville someday. As of this writing, nobody’s ears are bleeding—yet.

The End of the Rainbow for Horse-Crazy Ladies

For everyone with the love of horses in their DNA.

Why do women love horses? Husband, fathers, and sons try to understand us but often give up, accepting that the woman in his life was born that way and it’s better to accept than resist. If you’re in the sisterhood of horsewomen, I invite you to share the dream.
